A Tall Chrome Sconce With a Single Steady Flame of Light
This single arm wall light rises to almost half a metre, with one cylindrical opal glass shade held above a slim polished chrome column and a bold curved brace beneath it. It is built to be hung in pairs either side of a mirror, or on its own beside a shower screen or door.
The Chrome Finish
Like the rest of the Taylor bathroom range this comes in a bright polished chrome, not a brushed or satin finish, so expect a proper mirror shine on the column, the curved brace and the small backplate stamped with the Quoizel name. The glass shade is opal white and diffuses the light rather than showing the lamp directly.
How It Works
It takes a single G9 LED lamp rated at 3W, which is not supplied. The fitting is Class I, so it needs an earth connection, and it will dim only if you fit a dimmable G9 LED and use it with a suitable dimmer.
Where It Works Best
At 48.9cm tall this is the taller of the two single arm Taylor sconces, the other stands at 19.5cm, so pick this one where you want more presence, for example either side of a full height mirror. It also works well as a single light beside a shower enclosure. Buy two if you want a matched pair flanking a mirror rather than the three light bar version, which is designed to run along the top of one instead.
The Family Behind Quoizel
Quoizel has stayed in one family's hands since Ira Phillips joined the business in 1964 as Director of Merchandising and Sales, then bought the company outright in 1986. It remains privately owned and run by the Phillips family today, which is unusual for a lighting brand of this size and means decisions about a fitting like this one are still made in house rather than by a distant parent company.
