A Single Pane Of Prairie Glass
This little pyramid shaped shade packs a lot of pattern into one panel, straight lines of amber and honey running up to a point with small squares of soft green and a thin strip of dusky red breaking the geometry up. It is genuinely leaded by hand rather than printed, so held up to daylight the joins between colours are slightly uneven in the way real stained glass always is.
The Vintage Bronze Finish
The square backplate and short angled arm are cast in a Vintage Bronze finish with a deliberately aged, matte surface, so the glass panel remains the focus rather than competing with shiny metalwork. A single fixing screw sits on the backplate and the arm steps the shade forward and down slightly, angling the light where you actually want it rather than straight into the wall.
How It Works
This is a hardwired wall light, so it needs fitting by a qualified electrician rather than simply plugging in. It takes one E27 bulb, not supplied. Fit a dimmable E27 bulb and it will dim, since the fitting has no dimming module built in. It is wired to Class I, so it must be properly earthed.
Where It Works Best
At 20.3cm wide and 26.7cm deep it is a compact, single bulb fitting, the smallest in the Stephen range next to the table lamp and pendant, which makes it the one to reach for either side of a bed, flanking a fireplace, or spaced along a hallway where you want repeated pools of light rather than one central pendant.
The Tiffany Glass Quoizel Is Known For
Quoizel built its reputation on Tiffany style stained glass, work that started on table lamps and was gradually carried across into chandeliers, pendants and wall fittings like this one. The company still designs and leads that glass by hand today, which is why the panel on this wall light has the same slightly uneven, handmade character as the table and pendant versions in the same range.
