An Aged Glow in Weathered Brass
Weathered Brass takes the same wire cage as the rest of the Mixon range and gives it a deliberately aged, antiqued surface, richer and duller than a polished metal. It looks like it has already earned a few years on the ceiling, which suits the exposed bulb, industrial styling of the fitting itself.
Choosing Your Finish
The Mixon range runs to five finishes on one shared frame. Weathered Brass sits at the aged, antique end of that range, warmer and duller than brushed brass, and a long way from the bright shine of polished chrome or the cool grey of brushed nickel. It is the finish to choose if you want the fitting to look settled and lived in rather than new, particularly in older properties or alongside other aged metal fittings.
How It Works
This is a semi flush ceiling light, fixing close to the ceiling rather than dropping down like a pendant. It takes a single E27 lamp, not supplied, and the open cage is designed around a longer filament style bulb, though any E27 LED will fit. Electrically it is Class I, so it needs a proper earth connection, and since it is hardwired we would always recommend a qualified electrician for the installation. It can be dimmed, but only if the bulb fitted is itself dimmable.
Where It Works Best
As a single, compact light it suits considered spots rather than lighting a whole room on its own, over a kitchen table, in a hallway, or beside a bed. Every finish across the Mixon range shares the same height, single light count and semi flush fixing, so this SKU differs from its siblings purely in that aged brass tone, which reads as the most traditional option in the collection.
From Oil Lamps to Electric Light
Quoizel's first products, back in 1930, were hurricane lamps that burned oil rather than running on electricity, and one of them, the Abigail Adams lamp, stayed in the catalogue for decades after it was introduced. As American homes gradually wired up for electric light, Quoizel's range shifted with them, moving from portable oil lamps into hardwired chandeliers, pendants and ceiling fittings. A fitting like the Mixon, with its exposed bulb and bare cage, is a long way down that road from where the company started, but it still nods to those early lamp making roots.

Questions People Ask
How does Weathered Brass compare to Brushed Brass? Weathered Brass is deliberately duller and more antiqued, while Brushed Brass has a brighter, more polished gold finish. Both share the same cage and dimensions.
What bulb should I fit? A single E27 lamp, not supplied. An Edison style filament bulb suits the exposed cage best.
Is it dimmable? Yes, provided you fit a dimmable bulb and wire it to a compatible dimmer switch. A standard bulb will not dim on its own.
