A Ceiling Lantern With A Window Like Arch
Fitted flush to a porch or canopy ceiling, this drum shaped fitting has none of the usual flat, plain look of an outdoor flush light. Its steel frame is worked into a run of shallow arches around the sides, so the seeded glass reads almost like a series of small windows when the two bulbs inside are lit.
The Bronze Finish, Up Close
It comes in a single finish, Palladian Bronze, which in the photographs sits as a dark, slightly warm black with bronze picked out along the raised edges of each arch. The glass itself is seeded and noticeably textured, so light spreads unevenly around the drum rather than glowing flat and even, which suits the period style of the arches.
How It Works
Two E27 bulbs sit inside, and they are not supplied, so add your own when you fit it. The fitting is Class I, meaning it needs a proper earth connection, and it will dim as long as dimmable bulbs are used, since there is no dimming circuitry in the fitting itself. It carries an IP44 rating, giving it solid protection against wind blown rain, well suited to a covered porch or canopy. Being hardwired, it should go up with the help of a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
At 33cm across and only 12.7cm deep, this flush fitting sits close to the ceiling, which makes it the right choice for a porch, canopy or covered walkway where a wall lantern would not fit or where headroom is tight. Unlike the Marblehead wall lanterns in the same family, which project outward on a bracket and take a single bulb, this flush version mounts flat overhead and runs two bulbs, giving a broader spread of light across a doorway or path below.
A Reputation Built On Glasswork
Quoizel built much of its early reputation on Tiffany style stained glass, a specialism that started with table lamps and grew to include chandeliers, pendants and wall fittings as the company expanded beyond its original oil lamp business. This Marblehead fitting is not stained glass, but the arched, window like glazing pattern here comes from that same long running interest in giving a plain glass panel some real character.

Questions People Ask
Is this the same design as the Marblehead wall lanterns? It shares the same arched glazing pattern and bronze finish, but this one fits flush to a ceiling and runs two bulbs, while the wall versions project on a bracket and take a single bulb each.
What bulbs does it take? Two E27 bulbs of your choosing, not included in the box.
Will it cope with a genuinely exposed porch? It carries an IP44 rating for weather protection, which suits a covered or partly sheltered position rather than a fully open, unprotected spot.
Does it need an electrician? Yes, it is a Class I hardwired fitting and should be installed and earthed by a qualified electrician.
