A Jewelled Glow for the Side Table
Bronze finished and topped with a pyramid shade of hand cut glass, the India table lamp reads as a small piece of stained glass artistry rather than a standard side lamp. Cream and honey coloured panels are broken up by narrow bands of deep sage, and a scatter of clear blue jewel cabochons catches the light from within. It is a quietly ornate piece, built for a room that likes a bit of pattern.
One Finish, Done Properly
India comes in a single finish combination, an Imperial Bronze base paired with the glass shade shown in these photos. In hand the bronze reads warm rather than cold, closer to aged iron than polished metal, and it darkens further in the recesses of the teardrop shaped body. The shade itself is genuinely variable glass, so the exact placement of the amber and pale panels will shift slightly from lamp to lamp, which is normal for handmade Tiffany work and not a fault.
How It Works
Two E27 bulbs sit inside the shade, controlled independently by the twin pull chains at the neck, useful if you want one bulb on for background light and both on for reading. Bulbs are not supplied. Dimmable bulbs will dim on a compatible dimmer, though the lamp itself has no built in dimmer function. It is wired to Class I, so the fitting requires an earth connection, and it comes with a 2 year guarantee.
Where It Works Best
At 49.5cm tall and 41cm across the shade, India sits comfortably on a side table, a wide desk or a dresser without overwhelming the surface. Quoizel lists this one for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways, and the darker bronze base means it reads well against both pale and richly coloured walls. As a table lamp rather than a floor or pendant fitting, it needs no hardwired installation. Just plug in, add bulbs and go.
Tiffany Glass, Still Cut by Hand
Quoizel built its early reputation on Tiffany style glasswork, taking the copper foil technique developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and applying it well beyond table lamps, into chandeliers, pendants and wall fittings. The company itself started in 1930 in Manhattan under Michael Chaikin, originally making oil burning hurricane lamps rather than anything electric. It was only as homes electrified that the range shifted towards the wired fittings, glass shades included, that Quoizel is best known for now.

Questions People Ask
What bulbs does it take? Two E27 bulbs, not included. Choose dimmable LEDs if you want to use it on a dimmer switch.
Does it need an electrician to fit? No. It is a plug in table lamp, so there is no hardwired installation involved, though it is Class I and does need an earthed socket.
Will the glass pattern match the photos exactly? Close, but not identical. Each shade is handmade, so the exact glass placement varies slightly piece to piece.
