A Compact Glow In Warm Brass
This small Griffin swaps the exposed bulb look for a smooth white glass bowl, warmed up by an all over Weathered Brass finish rather than the darker bronze tones elsewhere in the range.
About The Brass
Weathered Brass here covers the whole fitting, the ceiling rose, the curved arms, the ring around the shade and the ball finial underneath, all in one warm, slightly antiqued brass tone rather than a mix of metals. The etched glass shade is painted white on the inside, so it diffuses the light evenly and you never see the bulbs themselves.
How It Works
Three E27 bulbs sit inside the shade, and they are not supplied. It is Class I, which means it needs an earth connection, and it will dim only if you fit dimmable bulbs with a compatible dimmer switch. As a hardwired ceiling fitting, have it installed by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
This is the smaller size in the Weathered Brass finish, at 30.1cm high and 42.2cm across, so it suits a compact kitchen, a hallway or a bedroom with average ceiling height. The medium version in the same finish is noticeably larger at 35.6cm high and 52.8cm across and carries four lamps rather than three, so choose that one for a bigger room or over a larger table.
About Quoizel
Quoizel built a lot of its early reputation on stained glass, working in the Tiffany style across table lamps and, later, chandeliers, pendants and wall fittings. Griffin sits a long way from that ornate glasswork, but the same company still makes both, an antique glass specialist alongside plainer, more contemporary designs like this one.
