A Warm Brass Glow For One
This single railway style shade comes in a soft, antique toned brass rather than a bright polish, with just enough age to its finish that it looks like it has always been there. Hung low over a table or a corner of worktop, it gives a single warm pool of light rather than a wide spread.
Picking Your Finish
Weathered brass has a gentle, aged gold tone, warmer and less reflective than the mirror bright imperial silver option and lighter than the deep palladian bronze. All three share the same shade shape and bracket, so it mostly comes down to which metal tone suits your taps, handles or existing fittings. An opal glass diffuser sits underneath the shade to keep the light soft rather than harsh.
How It Works
One E27 lamp lights the shade, and the bulb is not supplied. Fit a dimmable E27 bulb and the pendant will dim, though the fitting itself has no built in dimmer. It is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection, and as a hardwired ceiling fitting it should go up via a qualified electrician rather than a DIY job.
Where It Works Best
At 34.3cm across the shade, this single pendant is built for one drop, over a small table, a snug or a corner of an island, rather than lighting a whole kitchen run on its own. Where you need to cover a wider island or dining table, the three light Emery island bar carries three of the same shades on a single arched bar and is available in this same weathered brass finish, sold separately.
From A Small Manhattan Lamp Maker
Quoizel was founded in 1930 by Michael Chaikin as a small Manhattan lamp company, and its first products were oil burning hurricane lamps rather than anything electric. One of those early designs, the Abigail Adams lamp, stayed in the catalogue for decades after it first appeared, a rare example of a piece outlasting the fashions it was made in. The company has stayed family owned since, now run by the Phillips family who took it over in the 1980s.

Questions People Ask
Is weathered brass a bright gold colour? No, it has a softer, slightly aged look rather than a bright polish, warmer in tone than imperial silver and lighter than palladian bronze.
Can I buy more than one to run along an island? Yes, several are sold individually if you want to space them out, or the three light Emery island bar carries three shades on one bar in this same finish.
What bulb do I need? One E27 bulb, not included, so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature yourself.
