A Darker, Quieter Take On Dennison

This version of Dennison swaps brushed brass for a paladian bronze finish, a deep, slightly warm dark bronze across the neck, banding and stepped foot, set against the same faceted glass urn body and ivory fabric shade as the rest of the range. It sits well in rooms with darker wood or matte black hardware, where a shiny brass or nickel base would stand out too much.

What The Bronze Finish Actually Looks Like

In the photos the bronze reads close to black with warm brown undertones catching the light along the ridges of the banding, rather than a bright copper or true black. The glass urn beneath is clear and ribbed, and the shade is a soft ivory, not the tan tone sometimes described elsewhere, tapering out from a narrow top to a wider base with a neat trim line at each edge.

How It Works

Dennison runs on a single E27 bulb, not supplied, so you choose the warmth and output. It dims only with dimmable bulbs fitted, a standard bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch. It is wired to Class I, meaning it needs an earthed connection, and being a table lamp there is no hardwired installation involved, it plugs straight in once the bulb is fitted.

At 80cm tall with a shade around 43cm across, this is a substantial lamp for a console, sideboard or a wide nightstand, and it works equally well in a living room, bedroom, dining room or hallway. Compared with the brushed brass and polished nickel versions in the same family, this paladian bronze reads the most traditional and the least reflective, a better match for older or more formal furniture.

From Charleston To Your Console Table

Quoizel has manufactured and distributed from a large facility near Charleston, South Carolina since 1996, having moved its operations there from New York. The move brought a slower, more traditional design sensibility into pieces like Dennison, which favours classic proportions over anything overtly modern. The company remains privately owned by the Phillips family, who took over from founder Michael Chaikin's original business.

Questions People Ask

Is the shade actually tan or ivory? The shade is a soft ivory fabric with a fine trim line top and bottom, it is not a tan or beige tone.

How does this compare in size to the brushed brass and polished nickel versions? All three share the same 80cm height and roughly 43cm shade diameter, the only difference is the metal finish.

Is it dimmable? Yes, but only if you fit a dimmable E27 bulb, a standard bulb will not dim on a compatible circuit.
