Chance in Chrome, A Cooler Take on a Classic Shape

The Chance flush fitting swaps its usual reeded glass or lantern styling for a plain drum shape in Polished Chrome, crossed with slim metal bars over a glowing opal dome. It has a slightly nautical, porthole feel that reads as fresh rather than fussy.

Choosing Your Finish

Here the frame is Polished Chrome, a bright reflective silver rather than a brushed or matte metal, so expect real shine on the bars and outer ring in the photos. The opal white glass dome stays the same shade whichever metal you pick. If you prefer a warmer look, the same shape is also available in Painted Natural Brass.

How It Works

Chance takes two E27 LED lamps, sold separately so you can choose your own brightness and colour temperature. It is Class I wiring, which needs an earth connection, so it should be fitted by a qualified electrician. Use dimmable lamps if you want it on a dimmer circuit, ordinary lamps will not dim. It carries an IP44 rating, so it copes with the splashing and condensation a bathroom ceiling sees.

Where It Works Best

Measuring 13.6cm high and 32.7cm across, Chance sits flush and unobtrusive, which makes it useful in bathrooms and cloakrooms where ceiling height is tight. Its IP44 rating means it can go into any of the bathroom zones covered by bathroom lighting zones that permit an IP44 fitting. It shares its dimensions exactly with the Painted Natural Brass version, so the finish is really the only decision to make between the two.

The Phillips Family Behind Quoizel

Ira Phillips joined Quoizel in 1964 as Director of Merchandising and Sales, then bought the company outright in 1986. It has stayed privately owned and family run ever since, first under Michael Chaikin, who founded it in 1930, then under the Phillips family, which still guides the collections today.
