The Smallest Byron, Full Size Character
Byron in its small size keeps every detail of the larger lanterns in the range, just scaled down to suit a narrower doorway or a side entrance. Clear bevelled glass wraps three sides of a graphite frame, and a hammered pewter disc sits behind the single bulb to throw the light forward rather than letting it disappear into the glazing. It is compact enough not to overwhelm a modest porch, but it does not look like a cut down version of something bigger.
Graphite With Pewter, Or Imperial Bronze With Copper
This small size comes in the same two finishes as the rest of the Byron range. Graphite, shown here, is a deep black frame paired with a cool, silver toned pewter disc, a look that suits grey render, black window frames and anything contemporary. Imperial Bronze swaps that combination for a mottled rust brown frame and a warmer copper disc, better suited to brick or a timber door. Choose whichever sits closer to your existing door furniture.
How It Works
A single E27 lampholder sits inside the frame with the hammered pewter disc fixed to the backplate directly behind it. No bulb is supplied, so pick one to suit the look, and a filament style LED tends to work well given the fully clear glass. It will dim if fitted with a dimmable bulb on a matching dimmer switch. This is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection at the wall, and its IP44 rating means rain and driving spray will not trouble it. Wiring should always be left to a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
At 30.5cm tall, 16.5cm wide and 15.2cm deep, this is the smallest of the three Byron sizes, suited to a narrow porch, a side gate or an outbuilding where the medium at 36.8cm or the large at 45.7cm would crowd the space. All three share the same single lamp design and the same two finish options, so it works well as the smaller partner to a larger Byron used at the main entrance. At 3.2kg it is also the lightest of the range.
Quoizel's Reputation Built On Glass
Long before it made fittings like Byron, Quoizel built a strong reputation for Tiffany style stained glass work, a skill it carried well beyond its original table lamps into chandeliers, pendants and wall fittings. Byron's clear bevelled glass panels are a plainer, more architectural take on that same attention to glasswork, letting the bulb and the reflector disc do the talking instead of coloured panes.

Questions People Ask
How much smaller is this than the medium Byron? It stands 30.5cm tall against 36.8cm for the medium, a difference of over 6cm, so it suits a tighter space.
What bulb does it take? A single E27 screw fit lamp, bought separately. Since the glass is clear, a decorative filament LED shows the fitting off best.
Can it be dimmed? Yes, provided you fit a dimmable bulb paired with a compatible dimmer switch.
How is it fixed to the wall? Through the flat backplate at the top, onto a fixing capable of carrying 3.2kg, ideally brick or a timber stud.
