Where the picture lights are built to light art, the Valise wall light is designed as ambient lighting in its own right, a steel and cognac vegan leather fixture with vintage brass detailing that sits flush enough to work as a feature piece on any wall. It carries the same vintage luggage inspired styling as the rest of the collection into a fitting meant to be seen as well as switched on.
Cognac leather and vintage brass
Cognac vegan leather wraps the body in a warm tan finish, stitched along a steel frame, with vintage brass forming the wall plate and edging the frosted acrylic diffuser. Projecting just 11.4cm from the wall, it sits closer to the surface than the picture lights, reading more as a wall mounted lantern than an arm reaching out over art. The tan and brass tone works well flanking a fireplace, either side of a bed, or along a hallway with warm wood tones nearby.
How it works
An integrated 18W LED module supplies the light, so there is no bulb to buy separately or replace down the line. Dimming is possible provided the fixture is connected to a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. This is a Class I fitting, which needs an earthed supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. As a fixed wall mount there's no drop to adjust, just the set 11.4cm projection.
Where it works best
At 50.2cm wide and with a shallow 11.4cm projection, this sits comfortably in tighter spaces than the picture lights, a hallway, either side of a bed, or as a pair flanking a mirror or fireplace. Quintiesse designed the Valise wall light for living rooms, dining rooms and hallways, anywhere a warm, ambient wash of light is wanted rather than a light aimed specifically at a piece of art.
