Quintiesse's Twyla pendant pairs a natural, hand woven rattan shade with a metal frame, giving a single ceiling light that feels more like a piece of woven craft than a standard fitting. The open weave diffuses the light gently rather than throwing a hard glare, so the shade itself becomes the main visual feature, whether hung on its own or grouped above a run of worktop or table.
The burnished gold finish
On this version the frame and gallery are finished in burnished gold, a warmer, slightly aged metallic tone rather than a bright or polished brass. Set against the pale, fibrous texture of the rattan, it gives Twyla a more elevated, layered look, well suited to schemes mixing warm metals with natural materials, or to spaces where you want a touch of glow from the fitting itself alongside the light it casts.
How it works
The pendant is designed for a single E27 bulb up to 40W, which is not included, so you will need to choose your own. Dimming is possible, but only where dimmable bulbs are used, standard bulbs will not respond to a dimmer switch. As a Class I fitting it must be connected to an earthed supply and fitted by a qualified electrician. Drop is adjustable from around 57.7cm up to 179.7cm, allowing the shade to be set at the right height for your ceiling and the clearance you want beneath it.
Where it works best
Twyla's relaxed, coastal character suits dining rooms, kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms, anywhere a softer, ambient light is more welcome than a strong task light. The wide adjustable drop range makes it a practical choice for rooms with higher ceilings or for stairwells, where the shade can be lowered well below the fixing point without leaving a long, unused stretch of flex on show.
