Quintiesse Tallulah 2 Light Wall Light - Black Oxide

Tallulah is a two light wall fitting built around soft, retro curves rather than sharp modern lines. Smooth etched opal glass diffusers soften the light output, while ribbed metal cuffs at each end and a stepped oval backplate give the fitting a tailored, almost jewellery like presence on the wall. It's part of the Lisa McDennon Collection for Quintiesse, designed to bring a flattering, ambient glow to bathrooms and washrooms rather than a single bright wash of light.

The Black Oxide finish

Here the steel frame and backplate are finished in Black Oxide, a deep, slightly warm black rather than a flat matte tone, so the ribbed cuff detailing still catches the light and reads as metal rather than as a silhouette. Against the pale, etched opal glass shades the contrast is quite graphic, which suits pared back, contemporary bathrooms with light tiling, marble effect surfaces or simple white walls, where you want the fitting itself to register as a design detail rather than disappear into the scheme.

How it works

Each Tallulah wall light takes 2 x 3W LED G9 bulbs, which are not supplied. Fit dimmable G9 bulbs if you want the light to work with a dimmer switch, standard bulbs will not dim even on a dimming circuit. This is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to an earthed supply and wired in by a qualified electrician. It carries an IP44 rating, meaning it's protected against splashing water from any direction, not just still, humid air.

Where it works best

At 37.3cm high, 12cm wide and projecting 14.5cm from the wall, Tallulah is slim enough to mount in pairs either side of a bathroom mirror or vanity unit without crowding the space, and its IP44 rating means it's suitable for use in bathroom zones 2 and 3, the areas outside the immediate splash zone around a bath or shower. It also works well as a softer, secondary light source in an ensuite or cloakroom, where you want flattering illumination at face height rather than a single ceiling light overhead.
