Quintiesse Sutcliffe Single Wall Lantern - Oil Rubbed Bronze & Copper

The single lantern in the Sutcliffe range pairs the collection's oil rubbed bronze and copper finish with a clear seeded glass panel rather than plain clear glass, adding a faint, hand finished texture that catches the light differently to its plainer siblings. It is the smaller of the two Sutcliffe sizes, built for a single doorway rather than a wide porch.

The body is finished in a dark oil rubbed bronze with warmer bronze tones breaking through at the edges, and a copper reflector inside lifts the glow when the lantern is lit. The seeded glass, with its subtle bubbles and unevenness, gives the light a slightly softer, more textured quality than perfectly clear glass, and suits period or cottage style exteriors particularly well.

How it works

It takes a single E27 bulb (not supplied), which keeps the design simple and easy to relamp. Fit a dimmable bulb and it will dim, a standard bulb will run at a fixed brightness. This is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earthed supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. The IP44 rating means it is built to withstand the rain and damp of an exposed outdoor wall.

Where it works best

At 35.5cm high, 17.8cm wide and projecting 14cm, this is a compact fitting, well suited to a single front door, either side of a porch entrance, or a garage side door where you want a contained pool of light rather than wide coverage. Its 3.4kg weight means it does not demand especially heavy duty fixings, though any exterior fitting should still go into sound masonry or timber.
