Quintiesse Sutcliffe Single Wall Lantern - Aged Zinc & Antique Nickel

The Sutcliffe single wall lantern brings a slice of early Americana styling to the front of the house, its slim aluminium body finished in a weathered aged zinc that plays off a bright antique nickel reflector inside. It is the smaller of the two Sutcliffe lantern sizes, sized for a single door surround rather than a wide porch, and it carries clear glass panels that let the candelabra style lamping show through cleanly whether lit or off.

The aged zinc exterior has a soft, worn grey cast that Quintiesse builds up to look like it has weathered outdoors for years, while the antique nickel reflector inside brightens the glow and adds a cooler, more polished contrast against the exterior finish. Paired with clear glass panes, the combination reads as understated and slightly industrial, at home against brick, render or painted timber.

How it works

This lantern takes a single E27 bulb (not supplied), so you can choose the exact colour temperature and brightness you want for the doorway. It only dims if dimmable bulbs are fitted, standard bulbs will simply run at a fixed brightness. It is wired to Class I electrical standards, meaning it needs an earthed supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. With an IP44 rating it is built to cope with the driving rain and splashing typical of an exterior wall position.

Where it works best

At 35.5cm high, 17.8cm wide and projecting 14cm from the wall, this is the more compact of the two Sutcliffe sizes, making it well suited either side of a front door, on a porch pillar, or beside a garage entrance where a single, contained pool of light is enough. Its 3.4kg weight means it can go up on standard masonry fixings without needing especially heavy duty support.
