Quintiesse Pearson Single Medium Wall Lantern - Textured Black

For anyone who wants the look of a traditional carriage lantern without straying from a black metalwork scheme, the Pearson in textured black pairs a cast aluminium and brass body with a cylindrical pane of clear glass, borrowing its silhouette from classic indoor sconce design and bringing it outdoors.

Textured black finish

The textured black finish sits over the aluminium and brass body with a slightly matte, granular surface rather than a high gloss, which helps it shrug off fingerprints and weather marks over time. It is a versatile match against anything from a modern render finish to a traditional stone porch, and pairs naturally with black door furniture, downpipes or window frames if you are working towards a coordinated exterior.

How it works

Like the rest of the Pearson range, this lantern is designed for a single E27 bulb (not supplied), with a clear glass panel that lets the light source do the work rather than diffusing it behind frosted glass. Fit dimmable bulbs and it will dim; standard bulbs simply run at full brightness. It is a Class I fitting, which means it must be wired to an earthed supply and fitted by a qualified electrician. An IP44 rating means it is built to cope with driving rain and general outdoor damp, though it should not be sited where it would face a direct water jet.

Where it works best

This is a medium sized lantern at 35.6cm tall, sized for door surrounds, porches and covered walkways rather than double height facades. At 1.9kg it mounts easily on standard brick or render fixings. Because it is IP44 rated it is a practical choice for exposed porches or side passages where wind blown rain is a factor, and its narrow 11.5cm width keeps it in proportion either side of a front door.
