Quintiesse Palmetto 1 Light Pendant - Urban Bronze

There is a quiet, industrial age feel to the Palmetto pendant, a shape that nods to old factory lighting while working comfortably in a contemporary kitchen or dining room. An opal glass shade diffuses the light source inside a steel frame, and because the fitting converts between a full pendant drop and a low semi flush mount, it adapts to rooms with high ceilings and cosier spaces in equal measure.

The Urban Bronze finish

Here the steelwork is finished in Urban Bronze, a deep, textured tone with more shadow and depth than a polished metal, so the fitting reads as understated and a little weathered rather than shiny. It suits kitchens with darker cabinetry, exposed brick, matt black fittings or reclaimed wood, and the muted finish means it will not fight for attention against busier worktops or splashbacks. How it works

The Palmetto pendant is designed for a single 60W E27 bulb, which is not included, so pick a lamp with the colour temperature and brightness you want for the space. It will only dim if you fit dimmable bulbs, so check the packaging before you buy lamps if you plan to run it on a dimmer switch. As a duo mount fitting it can be hung as a standard pendant or lowered onto the ceiling as a semi flush light, and the rod length adjusts across a drop of roughly 44.8cm to 151.4cm. Being a Class I fitting, it needs an earthed electrical supply and should be wired in by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

At 29.5cm high and 36.8cm deep, this is a compact enough fitting to hang singly or in a row above a kitchen island or breakfast bar, and its adjustable drop lets you set the shade at the right height whether it is going over a worktop, a dining table, or a lower ceiling where a semi flush fit is more practical. The Urban Bronze finish works particularly well in kitchens and dining rooms that lean toward a darker, more industrial palette, where a bright brass or chrome fitting would feel too formal.
