Quintiesse Palais Medium LED Wall Light - Vintage Brass

Warm, aged and slightly worn in, the vintage brass finish is what gives the Quintiesse Palais medium wall light its sense of history despite being a new fitting. The design draws on 1920s architecture, with a curved steel frame wrapped around a ribbed glass shade that breaks the light into soft vertical lines rather than one flat pool. It is the kind of fitting that looks like it has always been there, which makes it an easy addition to rooms with existing period detail as well as newer spaces going for a warmer, more traditional feel.

The vintage brass finish

Rather than a bright, polished brass, this finish has an aged, vintage character, with a warmer, softer tone over the steel frame that avoids looking too shiny or new. It suits dark paint colours, walnut and oak furniture, and other warm metals such as bronze or aged gold, and generally sits better in rooms leaning traditional or art deco rather than a strictly minimal, cool toned scheme.

How it works

Light comes from an integrated 14W LED source built into the fitting itself, so there is no bulb to select or swap out over time. It is dimmable as long as it is wired to a dimmer switch designed for LED loads, giving you control over the level of light rather than a single fixed brightness. As a Class I fitting, it requires an earthed mains supply and installation by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

Standing 42.2cm tall with an 11.4cm projection, this is the larger of the two Palais sizes and has enough scale to anchor a hallway, landing or bedroom on its own, or to be hung in matching pairs either side of a mirror, bed or fireplace. Being wall mounted, it puts light exactly where you need it in a hallway or beside a bed without relying on an overhead pendant, and its warm brass tone makes it a natural fit for dining rooms and living rooms where you want ambient light rather than a bright, task focused beam.
