Quintiesse Ophelia 13 Light Multi Tier Chandelier - Black

The Ophelia 13 Light Multi Tier Chandelier is one of Quintiesse's most dramatic ceiling designs, its three tiered basket frame wrapped in a densely hand woven pattern that plays beautifully with light. Designed by Lisa McDennon, it has the scale and presence to work as the single striking feature in a room rather than a supporting piece.

A black on black finish

Both the steel frame and the woven rattan shade are finished in black, giving Ophelia a strong, graphic silhouette rather than a busy, textured one. Up close the weave still reads as a natural material, so it keeps some warmth and texture even in this deep, matte colourway. It sits comfortably against dark walls or black metal furniture, and equally well as a bold contrast against pale walls and light timber.

How it works

Ophelia takes 13 x 40W E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you can choose the tone and brightness that suits the room. It's dimmable, but only if dimmable bulbs are fitted throughout. This is a Class I fitting, which means it needs an earthed electrical supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. The three tiers hang on an adjustable drop of 87.3cm to 163.5cm, so there's real scope to set the finished height, and it's backed by Quintiesse's 2 year warranty.

Where it works best

With a frame spanning around 76.2cm across and standing 76.2cm tall before the drop rod, this is a chandelier for a room with some height and space to spare, a dining room table, a living room with a high or vaulted ceiling, or a large bedroom where it can hang as the focal point. Because the drop is adjustable across such a wide range, it also suits stairwells and split level spaces where you need to fine tune exactly how far it falls.
