A single teak veneer shade sits atop a slender base, throwing light both upward and downward at once, so it fills a room with a soft, layered glow rather than one hard pool of brightness. The teak veneer finish

The shade is made from natural wood veneer, finished in a warm teak tone that shows the grain of the timber rather than masking it. Every shade will carry slightly different grain patterning, which is part of the appeal of a natural material like this. It sits comfortably alongside oak, walnut and other warm wood tones, and works particularly well against neutral walls, linen textiles and other natural materials where its texture can stand out.

How it works

The Nostalgia takes a single E27 golf ball bulb (not supplied), and is compatible with dimmable smart lamps, so you can dial the light up or down if you fit a dimmable bulb. It's rated Class II, meaning it's double insulated and doesn't need an earthed connection, and it's designed as a simple plug in table lamp so there's no hardwiring involved in setting it up.

Where it works best

At 53cm tall with a 29cm diameter shade, it's a good scale for a bedside table, console, or sideboard rather than a huge statement piece. Its up and down light makes it useful as a secondary or accent light source in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways, wherever you want a warm ambient glow rather than full task lighting.
