Quintiesse Lotus Single Pendant / Semi-Flush Fitting - Heritage Brass

The Lotus pendant takes its name from the way its glass gathers into layers, three concentric clear glass shades nested one inside the other so that light pools and scatters through the fitting rather than firing straight down from a single source. It is a shapeshifter too, equally at home dropped low over a table on its cable or drawn up close to the ceiling as a semi flush fitting, so the same design can answer to a high ceiling or a low one.

Heritage Brass finish

This version pairs the tiered glass with a Heritage Brass frame, a warm, slightly antiqued metal tone that reads as brass without being brash. It sits well against darker paint, timber and stone, and against the clear glass shades it throws a soft amber glow at the edges when lit, an effect that suits rooms where you want light with a bit of warmth and character rather than a cool, clinical wash.

How it works

Lotus takes 1 x E27 LED bulb, not supplied, and dims only if you fit a dimmable bulb. The drop is adjustable between roughly 25.9cm and 106.6cm, so it can be set close to the ceiling for a semi flush look or lowered as a proper pendant, depending on the room. It is Class I, so it needs an earthed electrical supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

Its adjustable drop makes it a genuinely flexible fitting: pulled right up it suits kitchens, hallways and lower ceilings, and let down it works as a characterful single pendant over a dining table, a bedside, or a landing. The wide range also makes it a sensible choice for stairwells, where you can set the drop to clear the stairs at whatever point the fitting hangs. At 5.8kg it is light enough that most standard ceiling roses will take it, though as with any pendant it is worth checking the fixing is sound before you commit to a final position.
