Henri is a wall light built around a simple idea: a precision cut acrylic panel held within a shaped steel frame, designed so the whole fitting can be mounted vertically or horizontally depending on the wall it is going on. In Black Oxide, that flexibility is paired with a deep, almost matte black finish that gives the fitting a graphic, sculptural presence rather than a purely functional one.
The Black Oxide finish
The steel frame is finished in Black Oxide, a dark charcoal black with very little shine, which throws the clear acrylic diffuser panel into contrast rather than competing with it. During the day the fitting reads almost like a piece of wall art, and at night the dark surround frames the light rather than reflecting it. It works well against dark tile, stone or matte black tapware, and suits both pared back contemporary bathrooms and moodier, more industrial interiors.
How it works
Because Henri can be fitted either vertically or horizontally, it adapts to hallways, landings and bathroom walls without needing a different design for each orientation. It takes 2 x 25W E27 bulbs, which are not supplied, and will only dim if dimmable bulbs are fitted. This is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earthed electrical supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician rather than as a DIY job.
Where it works best
With its IP44 rating, this Black Oxide finish is suited to bathroom use in zones 2 and 3, the areas outside the immediate splash zone around a bath or shower, so it works well as vanity lighting either side of a mirror or as general wall lighting in a bathroom or en suite. Its compact 11.5cm width and 10cm projection also mean it sits neatly in tighter spaces such as a narrow hallway or landing, or as a matching pair flanking a bed or doorway.
