Quintiesse Harper 5 Light Chandelier - Polished Nickel

Harper's five light chandelier takes its cues from old factory lighting, an exposed, cage like frame holding five separate globes at staggered heights. Every arm of the fitting is capped in a plated smoke glass shade, softening the light source while keeping the polished nickel hardware visible underneath. It's a fitting with presence, built for a room where a ceiling light is allowed to be part of the decor rather than hidden away.

Polished nickel and plated smoke glass

Steel forms the skeleton of the chandelier, plated in a polished nickel finish that stays bright and reflective rather than matte. Wrapped around each of the five lamp positions is a plated smoke glass globe, its light tinting taking some of the sharpness off the bulb and giving the fitting a warmer, slightly aged glow than bare metal alone. The pairing works equally well in an industrial loft, a period property with original ironmongery, or a more contemporary scheme with black or brass accents nearby.

How it works

The chandelier is fitted for 5 x E14 LED bulbs, which are not supplied. Its suspension can be adjusted between 85.1cm and 222.3cm below the ceiling, giving enough range to sit at a standard height over a dining table or drop much further in a tall hallway or stairwell. It's dimmable, provided dimmable bulbs are fitted; standard bulbs will still work, just without that extra control. As a Class I fitting, it needs an earthed electrical supply and should be wired in by a qualified electrician. The fitting, its chain or rod and ceiling fixings are included; bulbs are not.

Where it works best

With a 77.5cm spread across its five arms and a long adjustable drop, this chandelier suits rooms with the height and floor space to let it hang properly, over a dining table, in a double height hallway, or as the focal point of a living room. The wide drop range also makes it a strong option for a stairwell, where it can be set low enough to fill the space without encroaching on head height lower down. At 12kg it's a heavier fitting, so check your ceiling has a secure, load rated fixing point before it goes up.
