Quintiesse Dot Wall Light - Teak Veneer

The Dot Wall Light takes the same idea as its table lamp sibling, a single spotlight paired with a disc of teak veneer, and turns it into a fixed wall mounted piece. The spotlight is angled into the veneer backdrop rather than out into the room, so what you notice first is the warm pool of reflected light rather than the fitting itself. It's a quietly sculptural way to add light to a wall without resorting to a plain uplighter or downlighter.

Teak veneer and carbon steel

Behind the spotlight sits a circular teak veneer backplate, its natural wood grain giving each fitting subtle variation. The spotlight arm itself is carbon steel, left in a clean, understated finish that lets the wood do the visual work. It's a combination that suits timber furniture, panelled walls or exposed brick equally well, warm enough to soften a hallway, restrained enough not to compete with artwork nearby.

How it works

It's designed to take a single GU10 bulb, sold separately, so you can select the beam angle, colour temperature and brightness that suits the space. If you fit a dimmable GU10, the light will dim, with a non dimmable bulb it will only switch on and off. The fitting is Class II rated, meaning it's double insulated and does not require an earthed supply, and it fixes directly to the wall rather than needing a ceiling connection.

Where it works best

At 50cm high with a 25cm projection, it's a good fit for hallways, landings, and reading nooks in a bedroom, kitchen or living room, and its 1.6kg weight means it's light enough to fix without needing heavy duty wall anchors. Because the light is reflected rather than direct, it works best as an accent beside a sofa or headboard rather than as a task light for close reading.
