Quintiesse Dot Table Lamp - Teak Veneer

The Dot Table Lamp is a small sculptural piece built around a single spotlight and a disc of teak veneer that sits just behind it. Rather than throwing light outward in every direction, the spotlight aims into the veneer disc, and the wood reflects a warm, diffused glow back into the room. It reads more like a piece of tabletop sculpture than a conventional lamp, which is part of what makes it work so well on a desk, shelf or side table where you want light and interest in equal measure.

Teak veneer and steel

The backplate is finished in a natural teak wood veneer, so grain and tone vary slightly from one lamp to the next, giving each piece its own character. It sits against a steel spotlight arm and base, a practical contrast of warm wood and cool metal that suits both traditional and more pared back interiors. The wood finish pairs naturally with oak, walnut or teak furniture nearby, while the steel detailing keeps it from feeling too rustic.

How it works

The Dot Table Lamp takes a single GU10 bulb, which is not supplied, so you can choose the colour temperature and brightness you prefer. Fit a dimmable GU10 bulb and the lamp will dim smoothly, with a standard bulb it will simply switch on and off. It's rated Class II, so it's double insulated and doesn't need an earthed connection, and it's designed for straightforward plug in installation, with no wiring in required.

Where it works best

At 46cm high and around 25 x 26cm at the base, it's compact enough for a bedside table, a console table in the hallway, or a sideboard in the dining room, and equally at home as an accent light in a living room. Because the light is directional rather than a broad wash, it works well as a secondary or mood light rather than a room's main source of illumination.
