Quintiesse Catalina 1 Light Large Wall Lantern - Black with Burnished Bronze accents

Catalina brings a clean, architectural silhouette to the outside of a home, and this large wall lantern is the statement version of the design. A generous rectangular glass cage appears to float beneath a single top knob, giving the fixture an airy, almost weightless look despite its substantial 60cm height. It is built for entrances, porches and facades where a wall light needs enough presence to hold its own against a big door or a wide expanse of brick or render.

Black with burnished bronze finish

The frame is finished in black with burnished bronze accents, a two tone combination that gives the aluminium construction depth rather than a single flat colour. The bronze picks out the joints and fixings while the black carries the main lines of the lantern, so the finish reads as considered rather than decorative. Clear glass panels wrap the light source on all sides, letting the fixture cast light outward rather than trapping it, and the combination sits comfortably against stone, brick, timber cladding or painted render.

How it works

Catalina Large takes a single 60W E27 bulb, which is not supplied. It dims if you fit a dimmable bulb, but not otherwise, since the fixture itself has no built in dimming electronics. It is Class I, which means it must be connected to an earthed electrical supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. Only the fixture is included; wiring and bulb are down to the installer.

Where it works best

At 60cm tall and with a 22.5cm projection, this is the lantern to choose either side of a front door, at the top of an outdoor staircase, or flanking a garage or gate where you want the light to register from the street. Its scale suits taller wall spans and double height porches better than a tight, narrow gap. With an IP44 rating it is built to cope with the weather an exposed exterior wall throws at it, including wind driven rain, so it holds up well on unsheltered elevations as well as covered porches.
