In distressed brass, the medium sized Atwater trades the crisp look of black for a warmer, aged metal finish, giving a front door the feel of a lantern that's been in place for years rather than fitted last week.
The distressed brass finish
The distressed brass finish is applied over Atwater's weather resistant composite body and treated with an anti fading agent, so the aged, antiqued look stays put rather than developing genuine tarnish or verdigris over time. It gives the practicality of a rust and corrosion resistant fitting with the visual warmth of aged metal, curved handle and scrollwork accents included. The clear seeded glass adds a soft, faceted candlelight effect. This finish works particularly well against cream or white render, natural stone and oak or painted timber doors.
How it works
Atwater takes a single E27 LED bulb, not supplied, fitted behind the seeded glass panel. It will dim if you fit a dimmable bulb, but not with a standard one. This is a Class I fitting and needs an earthed electrical supply plus installation by a qualified electrician. The lantern is supplied on its own, without a bulb.
Where it works best
At around 44.5cm tall, the medium Atwater suits a standard front door, porch or side entrance, and is a common choice either side of an entrance as a matching pair. With an IP44 rating, it's designed to handle the rain and splashing a typical covered or semi sheltered exterior wall is exposed to.
