Quintiesse Arno Single Table Lamp - Smoke - Polished Nickel

The Arno table lamp takes its shape from a tapering obelisk, its faceted glass panels catching the light from every angle. In this version the glass is given a smoked tint, a soft charcoal grey that softens the glow rather than dimming it, set against the cool shine of polished nickel at the base.

Smoke and polished nickel

The smoked glass has a subtle prismatic texture worked into its surface, so it never reads as flat or plain, more like cut crystal that has been given a grey wash. It sits on a polished nickel base and fittings, a bright, silvery finish that stays cool in tone and works well against darker woods, marble, or crisp white schemes. Pair it with chrome or nickel hardware elsewhere in the room and the two will sit together comfortably.

How it works

The Arno takes a single 9W GX53 bulb, which is not supplied. The light source sits low in the base, hidden behind the glass, so the glow reads through the smoked panels rather than shining out as a visible bulb. It will dim smoothly if you fit dimmable GX53 bulbs, though standard bulbs will not dim even on a compatible circuit. This is a Class I fitting, so it needs to be run from an earthed supply, and any hardwiring should be left to a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

At 36.4cm tall, the Arno is sized to work as a bedside lamp without overwhelming a nightstand, and its 17.1cm depth means it doesn't need much surface space. It's equally at home on a living room console table, a dining room sideboard, or a hallway console where you want a warm pool of light rather than full room lighting.

Quintiesse describes many of its glass finishes, including the faceted panels used on the Arno, as drawing on mouth blown glass techniques, which is part of why no two panels catch the light in quite the same way.
