Fade Adjustable brings a tiltable head to Orluna's low glare, trimless downlight, scaled up from the Mini range to a 89mm cut out. It keeps the same flush, minimal ceiling line as the rest of the Fade family, but with a mechanism that lets the beam be redirected onto a feature, artwork or wall after the fitting is in place.

Choosing Your Configuration

Because the head can be aimed, it's worth thinking about how the beam angle and engine will work together once redirected, not just how they look aimed straight down.

• Driver: 0 to 10V Dimming, Dali, Mains Dimming or Non Dimming.
• Engine: Origin (General Use) for general lighting, Origin Natural (Highest Quality) where colour accuracy is the priority, Origin Warm Dim (1800K to 3000K) for a warm, halogen like dimming curve, or Origin loPro for shallow ceiling voids.
• Colour temperature: 2700K, 3000K, or the full 1800K to 3000K range with Warm Dim selected.
• Beam angle: narrow 18° to 20° options work well for aiming at a specific object, while wider angles up to 57° suit a more general adjustable wash.
• IP rating: IP54 for dry interiors, IP65 where the location may see damp.

Supplied with a white RAL 9010 bezel and black baffle as standard, with further options available from Orluna on request.

How It Works

Fade Adjustable installs trimless via a plaster in plate, with the 80mm bezel sitting flush against the finished ceiling. Behind it, a gimbal mechanism allows the LED engine to be tilted and rotated within the housing, while the extended black baffle continues to shield the light source from direct view, so redirecting the beam doesn't come at the cost of visible glare. Heat generated by the LED is drawn away through an aluminium body, which protects colour output whichever direction the head is aimed.

Where It Works Best

This is the fitting to specify where the final lighting target isn't fixed at first fix: galleries and feature walls where artwork may be rehung, living spaces where furniture layouts change, or retail environments where displays move seasonally. Its larger 89mm cut out and broader engine choice, including Warm Dim and loPro, give it more scope than Fade Mini Adjustable, while the single head keeps it simpler to specify than Fade Twin Adjustable where two separate aim points are needed.

Founded in 1973 by aeronautical engineers, Orluna spent its early years applying LED technology to military and civil applications where mechanical reliability could not be compromised, decades before LEDs became standard in architectural lighting. Andrew Kilborn's arrival in 2009 redirected the company toward high end interiors, and ranges including Fade have since been built around a modular philosophy: bezels, reflectors and LED engines can each be replaced individually, which is what allows Orluna to offer its 20 year spares, repair and reuse programme rather than a simple guarantee.

• How much can the head be redirected? Orluna does not publish an exact tilt figure, but the gimbal mechanism allows the beam to be aimed away from straight down after installation, unlike the Fixed version which is set permanently.
• Is this the same size as Fade Mini Adjustable? No, Fade Adjustable uses a larger 89mm cut out and 80mm bezel, with a broader range of engines and beam angles.
• Can it run on Dali dimming? Yes, Dali is one of the driver options available alongside 0 to 10V, Mains Dimming and Non Dimming.
