The Basel is a flush wall lantern, slightly longer in profile than the Norlys Bern, giving it a more elongated silhouette while keeping the same close to the wall, low projection design. In galvanised steel with a clear glass lens, it leans into a more industrial, weathered look than the black version.

Galvanised steel is left untreated so its slightly textured surface can weather naturally over time rather than stay pristine, a look that suits period as well as contemporary properties. The clear lens keeps the light crisp and undiffused.

How It Works

Basel takes a single E27 lamp (bulb not included) and carries an IP54 rating, giving it solid protection against dust and splashing water for a fitting mounted flush to an exterior wall.

Where It Works Best

Its flush profile and IP54 rating suit porches, entrances and exterior walls where a lower projection fitting is preferred over a fully three dimensional lantern, including coastal properties exposed to salt laden air where the galvanised finish earns its keep.

Norlys invested in its own hot dip galvanising plant at its Polish production facility specifically because standard finishes couldn't cope with Scandinavia's coastal weather, and that same process is what finishes the galvanised Basel today.
