A Light Built to Earn Its Own Patina
Raw brass is the finish for anyone who likes watching a fitting change over time. Fresh out of the box the Navigator Small Siren in Raw Brass has a bright, golden shine, and left outside it will slowly darken and mellow with the weather, taking on its own patchy, sun and rain marked character the way old ship fittings always did. No two will age quite the same way, which is rather the point.
How It Works
Under that living finish sits a solid brass body designed for real outdoor duty. A clear ribbed glass diffuser sits over the lamp, spreading light evenly while keeping the elements off the bulb, and the fixture is rated IP64 so it stands up to rain and coastal air. It runs on a single ES / E27 lamp, not supplied, and wiring feeds in through a gland at the end or the rear, the blank gland in the box lets you seal off whichever side you are not wiring through.
Where It Works Best
Being the plain, ungrilled version of the Small Siren, this fixture is built to throw out as much light as possible rather than filter it, so it works well anywhere you want a genuinely useful level of illumination, entrances, patios, garden walls, the run up to a back door. Raw Brass in particular suits newer builds, coastal cottages and gardens where the owner is happy to let the metal age naturally into the surroundings, rather than the instantly aged look of the Antique Brass or the cooler, unchanging tone of Satin Nickel. It is a finish that rewards patience more than the other two in this range.

Questions People Ask
Will the Raw Brass finish on this wall light change colour outside?
Yes, that is exactly what raw brass is meant to do. Rain and salt air will gradually darken and mark the metal, giving it a unique, weathered look over months and years rather than staying bright and golden.
Can I stop the Raw Brass finish from patinating if I want to keep the bright look?
You can slow it down with regular brass polish, though most people choose raw brass because they want that natural ageing rather than fighting it.
Is the Navigator Small Siren in Raw Brass suitable for a fully open, unsheltered wall?
Yes, the IP64 rating and solid brass build mean it is designed for exposed outdoor use, coastal properties included.
