A Bulkhead Light That Arrives Already Weathered In
The Navigator Horatio Junior Bulkhead in Antique Brass looks like it has been guarding a doorway for thirty years, and that is rather the point. Where raw brass needs time outdoors to darken and mellow, this finish is pre aged at the factory, giving you the same soft, tea coloured brass tone from day one. It is a small fixture with a proper sense of history, the kind of light that makes a new porch look like it has always belonged to an old harbour cottage.
How It Works
Underneath that aged surface is solid brass, built around a clear prismatic glass diffuser that spreads light evenly rather than throwing a single glaring beam. The fixture is rated to IP64, so it copes well with driving rain and coastal spray on a covered wall. It takes a single E27 (Edison screw) lamp of up to 18W, not supplied, which means you can fit an LED lamp of your choice for a warmer or cooler glow. Cable entry is at the end or the rear of the housing, and a brass blank is fitted as standard so you can seal off whichever entry point you are not using.
Where It Works Best
This is the junior size in the Horatio family, noticeably more compact than the standard Horatio bulkhead, so it suits tighter porches, narrow door surrounds and cottage style entrances where a larger fixture would look heavy handed. The antique finish reads particularly well against stone, render and older brick, and pairs naturally with black ironmongery or aged copper house numbers. If your build already has some patina to it, from weathered timber to a worn front step, this finish will sit right in rather than looking freshly unboxed.

Questions People Ask
Does the Horatio Junior come in a finish that already looks aged? Yes. The Antique Brass option is finished to look softly aged and darkened straight out of the box, rather than starting bright and needing years outdoors to mellow like raw brass does.
What bulb do I need for the Navigator Horatio Junior Bulkhead? It takes a single E27 (Edison screw) lamp rated up to 18W. The lamp is not supplied, so most people fit a warm white LED for an authentic, low glare glow.
Is the Horatio Junior suitable for a porch that gets driving rain? With an IP64 rating it is built to shrug off splashing water from any direction, so a covered or partially exposed porch position is well within what it is designed for.
