A Lantern That Grows Its Own Story
Some finishes are chosen once and stay the same forever. Raw Brass is not one of them. The Wellington Post Lantern in Raw Brass arrives bright and golden, then slowly darkens and mellows wherever it stands, shaped by rain, salt air and sun in a way no two lanterns will ever quite match. It is solid brass in its purest form, paired with a clear ribbed glass diffuser that spreads a warm, welcoming glow along paths and driveways.
How It Works
The Wellington Post Lantern is built from a solid brass body with a clear ribbed glass diffuser that softens and spreads the light rather than casting a single harsh beam. It takes one ES / E27 lamp, not supplied, so you can fit whichever bulb suits the space, including LED. Wiring runs in through the base, keeping the connection tidy and out of sight once mounted. The fitting carries an IP54 rating, giving it protection against dust and water splashed from any angle, so it copes well with everyday outdoor weather.
Where It Works Best
As a post mounted lantern, this is built for driveways, front paths, gateposts and garden boundaries rather than wall mounted positions. Raw Brass suits owners who like watching a fitting change with its surroundings, gradually taking on a deeper, richer tone the longer it stays outside, particularly in coastal air where that natural patina develops a little faster. If you would rather the aged look arrived ready formed, the Antique Brass version in this same range gives you that from the start, while Satin Nickel offers a cooler, more contemporary alternative for modern exteriors. Raw Brass is the one for anyone happy to let the elements do some of the design work.

Questions People Ask
How quickly will Raw Brass change colour outdoors?
It depends on your local climate, but expect a noticeable shift within the first few months outdoors, deepening further over the following year as it settles into a richer, more aged tone, especially in coastal or damp conditions.
Can I stop Raw Brass from patinating if I prefer the bright look?
Regular cleaning and the occasional coat of a suitable brass wax can slow the process, though the whole appeal of raw brass is that it is designed to age naturally rather than stay bright forever.
Is this lantern strong enough for a windy coastal driveway?
Yes. It is IP54 rated and built from solid brass, so it is designed to hold up to rain, salt laden air and everyday coastal weather once properly mounted on its post.
