A Porthole With a Cool, Coastal Glint
There's something about a ship's porthole that never goes out of style, and this one wears it beautifully in Satin Nickel. Where raw brass warms up with age and antique brass arrives already weathered, Satin Nickel keeps things cool and quiet, a smooth, low sheen finish that reads more steel deck than ship's lantern. It sits happily against render, stone, or timber cladding, and the circular silhouette with its ribbed glass face still nods firmly to its maritime roots without shouting about it.
How It Works
Underneath that Satin Nickel finish is a solid brass body, chosen for the way it shrugs off damp coastal air rather than corroding away. A clear ribbed glass diffuser sits over the lamp, spreading the light evenly while keeping the fitting weathertight to an IP64 rating, so it can handle open exposure to rain and spray. It takes a single ES / E27 lamp (not supplied), and thumb turn fixings mean the glass lifts off easily whenever a bulb needs changing, no fiddly screws involved. Cable entry can run through the side, the rear, or via conduit using a separate adaptor, so it fits whatever wiring route the wall already gives you.
Where It Works Best
This is a fitting for the places that take the weather head on: porch walls, boathouse fronts, harbourside cottages, marina walkways, or a courtyard wall that could do with a bit of ship's hardware character. Satin Nickel is the finish to reach for when the rest of the scheme leans contemporary or nautical industrial, think steel balustrades, grey render, or chrome door furniture, rather than the warmer, more traditional pairing that Raw Brass or Antique Brass naturally fall into. It's just as at home mounted in pairs either side of a front door as it is dotted along an exterior corridor.

Questions People Ask
Is the Satin Nickel Navigator porthole light suitable for a completely exposed exterior wall?
Yes. It carries an IP64 rating, which covers protection against splashing water from any direction, so it's built for open porches, boathouses, and coastal walls that catch the weather.
What bulb does the Navigator Small Porthole Bulkhead take?
A single ES / E27 lamp, which isn't included, so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suits the space it's lighting.
Does the Satin Nickel finish look different from the Raw Brass or Antique Brass versions?
Yes, quite noticeably. Satin Nickel gives a cool, brushed steel look rather than the warm gold tone of Raw Brass or the deliberately aged patina of Antique Brass, so it suits a more contemporary coastal scheme.
