A Porthole That Wears Its Age Well
There is something about a round window on a wall that makes people stop and look twice, and the Small Cabin Porthole Bulkhead in Antique Brass leans right into that. This is brass that already looks lived in: a warm, softened bronze tone with the kind of depth you would expect from a fitting salvaged off an old trawler, not one just taken out of a box. It suits a front door, a garden wall or a harbourside cottage that wants to feel like it has always belonged to the coast.
How It Works
Underneath that aged finish is a solid brass body built to earn its keep outdoors. A prismatic glass diffuser sits behind the porthole face, scattering the light from a single E27 (ES) lamp so the glow feels even rather than glaring. The whole fitting is rated IP64, so rain and airborne salt are not a concern once it is sealed up and wired in. Cable gland entry runs in as standard through the side of the fixture, and thumb turns hold the porthole glass in place so changing a lamp is a quick, tool free job rather than a wrestling match with screws.
Where It Works Best
This is the compact end of the Navigator porthole family, so it earns its spot in tighter corners: either side of a front door, along a narrow passage, or on a porch pillar where the larger Navigator Large Porthole Bulkhead would look oversized. Because the Antique Brass finish already carries a weathered character, it tends to sit best against older brick, render or painted timber, rather than a crisp modern render where the Raw Brass sibling might read more naturally. Pair it with other Antique Brass Navigator pieces, such as the Palaemon or Wellington, for a coherent coastal or period exterior scheme.

Questions People Ask
Is the Navigator Small Cabin Porthole Bulkhead in Antique Brass suitable for a front door porch?
Yes. Its IP64 rating means it copes well with wind driven rain and general weather exposure, and its compact 210mm face suits porches and doorways where a larger bulkhead would dominate the wall.
Will the Antique Brass finish keep darkening over time or is it already treated?
The Antique Brass finish arrives with its aged, weathered tone already applied, so you get that character from day one rather than waiting years for natural tarnishing to happen.
What bulb does this porthole light take and is one included?
It takes a single E27 (ES) lamp, which is not included in the box, so you can choose the exact colour temperature and brightness to suit the space.
