Aged Brass, Ready for the Ground
There is something quietly confident about a light that already looks like it has been there for years. This antique brass finish carries a warm, toasted brown patina baked into the metal from the outset, so it settles into an established garden, a reclaimed stone path or a weathered timber deck without needing a moment to catch up. It is the finish for anyone who wants the character of aged brass from day one, recessed flush into the ground so the beam does the talking and the fitting itself all but disappears underfoot.
How It Works
The Bertha is a recessed ground light built from solid brass and sealed to IP67, so it copes with driving rain, standing water and the salt laden air that comes with living near the coast. It sits flush in the ground, held by a solid brass surround that takes the weight of foot traffic without shifting. Inside, a single GU10 lamp (not supplied) throws light straight up through a toughened glass lens, giving a clean beam of uplight with no visible wiring or housing once it is installed.
Where It Works Best
Recessed ground lights earn their keep uplighting the things you actually want to look at after dark, a specimen tree, a rendered wall, the corner of a terrace, the edge of a driveway. Because Bertha sits flush rather than standing proud, it also works well along paths and steps where a taller fitting would be a trip hazard. Set against its Raw Brass sibling (SKU 09200), which starts bright and develops its patina naturally outdoors over time, this Antique Brass version suits settings where the aged look is wanted straight away, such as period properties, reclaimed brick and stone, or gardens where the rest of the hardware has already weathered in.

Questions People Ask
Is the Navigator Bertha ground light safe to install somewhere it will get rained on or flooded?
Yes. It carries an IP67 rating, meaning it is protected against dust and can withstand temporary submersion, so puddling around the fitting after heavy rain is not a concern.
What bulb does the Bertha recessed ground light in Antique Brass take?
It takes a single GU10 lamp, sold separately, so you can choose the beam angle, brightness and colour temperature that suits the space being lit.
Will the Antique Brass finish keep changing colour outdoors the way raw brass does?
The antique finish is already treated to give that aged, brown toned look, so it stays far more consistent over time than an untreated raw brass fitting, which will continue to darken and streak with ongoing weather exposure.
