The body is cast in solid brass and fitted with a prismatic glass diffuser that softens the light rather than sending out a single bright point, so the glow spreads gently across a doorway or path. It is rated IP54, meaning it is built for covered outdoor spots such as porches, canopies or covered walkways where it will meet wind and moisture but not a direct, driving downpour. It runs on a single E27 (Edison screw) lamp up to 18W and works well with LED lamps of the same fitting. A brass chain carries it down from a ceiling rose plate, ready for a qualified electrician to wire in.
