A clear ribbed glass diffuser sits over the lamp, spreading light evenly rather than throwing a single hard beam, and the whole fixture carries an IP64 rating, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and splashing water from any direction, so it is happy on an open porch or an exposed gable end. It takes a single E27 (ES) lamp, not supplied, and cabling can enter through a gland at either the end or the rear of the fixture, with a brass blank supplied to seal off whichever entry point you do not use.
