How It Works

Underneath the finish, this is the same solid brass bodied fitting as the rest of the Grand Capstan family, plated in satin nickel and fitted with a thick, radially ribbed prismatic glass diffuser for a wide, even throw of light. It carries an IP64 rating, so it copes well with rain and splashing water in exposed spots. A single E27 lamp, up to 18W, sits behind the glass, and it is compatible with dimmable bulbs for softer evening light. Cable entry runs through the rear or side of the fixture, with a brass blank supplied to cover whichever route you do not use.

Where It Works Best

Satin Nickel comes into its own on newer coastal builds, marina developments and hotel or restaurant exteriors where a crisp, modern grey suits the surrounding materials better than warm brass tones. Because the finish will not patina or darken with age the way Raw Brass does, it is a sensible pick if you want every fitting along a terrace or walkway to look identical in five years' time.
