It still has real weight in the hand, this is not a thin metal shell, just dressed in a tone that reads calmer and more understated than polished or antiqued brass.

How It Works

Behind the Satin Nickel finish is the same solid brass body used across the Merchant range, prized for standing up to salty, damp coastal air far better than painted steel or plastic. A clear ribbed glass diffuser softens the light from a single ES/E27 lamp (not included), and the cable can enter through a gland at the end or rear of the fixture, with a brass blank supplied to seal the entry point you are not using. It is IP64 rated for outdoor use and closes up with Phillips head screws instead of wing nuts, making it that bit more resistant to tampering on an accessible wall.

Reach for the Satin Nickel finish when you want the practicality of the Merchant Bulkhead without the warm, aged brass look, modern coastal extensions, boat clubs with a cooler colour scheme, or anywhere the brass tones of the Antique or Raw finishes would clash with existing brushed steel or chrome fittings. Because satin nickel does not develop the same living patina that Raw Brass will, it is also the more predictable choice if you want the fixture to look much the same in five years as it does on day one.
