Red Iron and Glass — Earthy Warmth on Your Wall
The Rivale Wall Light in Red Iron brings the warm, earthy intensity of the red iron ceramic finish to a side-mounted wall fitting with a choice of clear, frosted or opal glass. The ceramic shade is formed and hand painted at Mullan Village before firing, the iron tones ranging from warm terracotta at the surface through to deeper rust and ochre within the glaze. Because every shade is painted individually no two are ever precisely the same. The shade faces outward and slightly downward, the glass and red iron ceramic combining to create a quality of warm, characterful light that a plain shade could never match.
How It Works
The G9 lamp sits inside the glass shade. Clear glass gives the most direct light and keeps the red iron ceramic fully visible from the front, the warm terracotta tones catching at the rim of the glass. Frosted glass softens the spread into a warmer ambient glow. Opal glass gives the most even diffused glow and creates a striking visual — the warm earthy ceramic against the soft white glow of the lit glass. The red iron finish responds particularly well to warm spectrum LED bulbs, deepening in colour and richness in the evening.

The Red Iron Rivale Wall Light is a natural in bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms where earthy warmth and character on a wall are valued. Either side of a headboard it creates an intimate, considered bedside arrangement. In a dining room it adds warmth and depth at a level where the light and the ceramic can both be appreciated. The red iron finish pairs particularly well with antique brass, aged timber, terracotta surfaces, dark stone and warm woven textiles.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the red iron finish in direct response to the iron rich soils and weathered stone of the County Monaghan landscape. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass. The studio distributes to more than 55 countries.

FAQs
Which glass works best with the Red Iron finish?
Opal glass creates a striking contrast between the warm earthy ceramic and the evenly diffused white glow. Clear glass keeps the look more direct and graphic. Frosted works well as a middle ground where a softer spread of light is wanted.
Will my wall light look exactly like the photo?
Close but not identical. The red iron finish is hand applied and fired so depth of colour and surface texture vary naturally between pieces.
Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Rivale Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
Can I return it?
Yes. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Please contact us to arrange.
