The Rivale Wall Light in Matte White Striped combines the clean graphic precision of the matte white striped ceramic finish with a choice of clear, frosted or opal glass in a side-mounted wall fitting. The ceramic shade is formed and hand painted at Mullan Village, County Monaghan, the matte white ground and fine stripes giving it a considered quality that works in contemporary minimal interiors and sits equally well in more traditional spaces. Because every shade is painted by hand the striping carries a natural variation that distinguishes this from anything mass produced. The shade faces outward and slightly downward, directing warm light across the wall and into the room.
How It Works
The G9 lamp sits inside the glass shade. Clear glass gives the cleanest, most graphic result — the striped ceramic reads clearly from the front and the light is direct and defined. Frosted glass softens the spread into a warmer ambient glow. Opal glass gives the most even diffusion and lets the matte white striped ceramic read as a quietly glowing object on the wall. The matte white surface reflects light cleanly at the ceramic edges in all three cases, brightening the wall around the fitting.

The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. The matte white striped finish reflects the bleached stone and whitewashed plaster of the historic buildings surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass. The studio distributes to more than 55 countries.

Will the stripes be perfectly even?
No, and that is intentional. The stripes are hand painted so there is natural variation in width and spacing. The overall impression is clean and graphic but up close you can see it was made by a person.
Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Rivale Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
