Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who saw both a business opportunity and a cultural responsibility in restoring the abandoned 19th century flax mill at Mullan Village. The ceramics arm of the business was later established to sustain the centuries old tradition of Mullan as a village of makers, drawing directly from the natural colours and textures of the surrounding countryside. With over 100 people now employed at the studio and products exported to more than 55 countries, Mullan has earned a reputation among interior designers and architects as one of the most authentic handmade lighting brands available today.
