The Rivale Table Lamp in Black Clay takes the same handmade ceramic quality as the pendant and ceiling range and brings it to a compact, bedside-scaled table lamp. At 13cm tall and 21cm in diameter the proportions are generous enough to make a visual statement on a bedside table or console without taking over the surface. The black clay ceramic shade faces outward and slightly downward, the deep matte finish absorbing light at the surface and concentrating the glow where you need it. A fitting that is as interesting switched off as it is on.
How It Works
The G9 lamp sits directly within the ceramic shade, which means the black clay itself shapes the light. The downward and outward opening of the shade directs warm light onto the surface below and across the immediate area — good for bedside reading or as ambient table lighting in a living room or hallway. The black clay finish absorbs rather than reflects, creating a warm pool of light beneath with a characteristic glow at the ceramic rim. Compatible with dimmable G9 bulbs, so brightness can be adjusted to suit the moment.

The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. The black clay finish draws directly from the iron-rich soils and ancient bog landscapes of that part of Ireland. Every piece is made to order at the village studio by over 100 craftspeople, using sustainable clay and recycled brass, and the studio distributes to more than 55 countries.

What size bulb does this take?
The Rivale Table Lamp takes a G9 bulb, maximum 6.5W. The bulb is not included. We recommend a warm white LED G9 for the best light quality with this finish — a dimmable version if your circuit supports it.
Will my lamp look exactly like the photo?
Close but not identical. The black clay finish is hand applied and fired, which means surface texture and depth of tone vary naturally between pieces. Your lamp will be tonally consistent with the photos but will have its own surface character.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. The lamp is compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs — just ensure your plug socket or circuit supports dimming. Bulb not included.
How long will delivery take?
Around 3 weeks from your order date as each piece is made to order at Mullan Village. We will keep you updated throughout.
Can I return it?
Yes — returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Please contact us to arrange.
