Mullan Pera Pendant - Matte White Striped with Finish Options

Matte White Striped: A Compact Globe Pendant With Clean Craft Character

The Pera Pendant in Matte White Striped is a compact 15cm tall, 13.5cm wide ceramic and glass pendant with a rounded, globe-like form that is distinct from the taller Pando and Parva ranges. The matte white striped ceramic body sits above a glass shade, the hand painted stripes giving it a graphic, considered quality in a compact form that works particularly well grouped above a dining table, kitchen island or as a pair above a bed. The stripes are applied individually at Mullan Village before firing, which means each shade carries the natural variation of a handmade piece rather than the mechanical uniformity of anything mass produced.

How It Works

The glass shade faces downward, diffusing and distributing the E27 bulb's warm light downward and outward into the room. The matte white striped ceramic body sits above, reflecting light cleanly at the ceramic edges and adding the crisp, graphic quality of the stripe detail. Compatible with dimmable E27 bulbs. A warm white dimmable E27 suits this form well.

Where It Works Best

The Matte White Striped Pera works well above a dining table, kitchen island or breakfast bar where the compact globe form creates a considered presence without overwhelming the space. Group two or three in a cluster or a row for a particularly effective arrangement. It also works well as a single bedside pendant or in a hallway where the compact, considered form adds character in a small footprint. The matte white striped finish pairs with virtually any interior palette and hardware finish.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. The matte white striped finish reflects the bleached stone and whitewashed plaster of the historic buildings surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

What bulb does the Pera Pendant take?
It takes a standard E27 screw fit bulb, maximum 40W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED E27 suits the matte white striped finish well.

Will the stripes be perfectly even?
No, and that is intentional. The stripes are hand painted so there is natural variation in width and spacing. The overall impression is clean and graphic but up close you can see it was made by a person.

Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Pera Pendant is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
