The Osier Ceiling Light in Marbled finish is a 19.5cm tall, 12cm wide handmade ceramic fitting with the timeless visual quality of hand painted marbled stone in a slender, upright form. At just 12cm wide the swirling tones of cream, warm grey and natural stone have a more intimate, concentrated quality than the same finish on broader ceiling lights, the marbling reads as a quiet, considered detail on the ceiling rather than a bold statement, which is often exactly what a well-designed room needs. The pattern is applied individually at Mullan Village before firing and no two pieces carry an identical marbling.

How It Works

The open ceramic shade faces downward, directing the E27 bulb's light into the room. The 12cm diameter concentrates the light into a relatively focused pool below. A warm white dimmable E27 LED suits the marbled finish well. Grouped in pairs or threes the slender Osier Ceiling Lights create a considered arrangement that is more interesting than a single larger fitting.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the marbling technique by drawing on the layered stone and mineral textures of the Irish landscape. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.
