The Nakaii Wall Light in Red Iron brings the warm, earthy intensity of the red iron ceramic finish to a wall fitting with a glass shade. At 24cm tall and 20cm wide it has a substantial, architectural presence on a wall. The iron tones ranging from warm terracotta through to deeper rust and ochre are applied by hand at Mullan Village and fixed through firing, with natural variation preserved from piece to piece. No two shades come out of the kiln looking identical. The glass shade softens and diffuses the G9 bulb's light while the red iron ceramic body sits on the wall as a warm, characterful form that deepens and enriches in evening light.

How It Works

The glass shade faces outward, diffusing and distributing the G9 bulb's warm light across the wall and into the room. The red iron tones respond most beautifully to warm light levels, deepening as brightness dims. A warm white dimmable G9 LED is strongly recommended to bring out the full depth and richness of the red iron finish.

The Red Iron Nakaii Wall Light is at home in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways where earthy warmth on a wall adds genuine character. It pairs particularly well with antique brass, aged timber, terracotta tiles, dark stone and warm woven textiles. Used as a pair either side of a bed, fireplace or mirror it creates a warm, balanced arrangement with real material quality.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the red iron finish in direct response to the iron rich soils and weathered stone of the County Monaghan landscape. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

What bulb does the Nakaii Wall Light take?
It takes a G9 bulb, maximum 6.5W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED G9 is strongly recommended. The warmer the colour temperature, the richer the red iron tones appear in the evening.

Will my wall light look exactly like the photo?
Close but not identical. The red iron finish is hand applied and fired, so depth of colour and surface texture vary naturally between pieces.

Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Nakaii Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated fitting and we will advise.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
