Terracotta and White: Sun Warmed Character From the Ceiling
The Nakaii Pendant in Terracotta and White is the most distinctive finish in the Nakaii pendant range. The two tone combination of warm terracotta and contrasting white is applied by hand at Mullan Village before firing, creating a finish that references the whitewashed walls and sun warmed terracotta of coastal interiors. At 20cm wide the shade has a confident presence above a table or island, and the terracotta and white combination gives it a personality and warmth that reads very differently to a single colour ceramic fitting. Suspended on 1m of cable, it works equally well as a single pendant or grouped.
How It Works
The open ceramic shade faces downward, directing the G9 bulb's light into the room. The terracotta and white tones work particularly beautifully in warm evening light, the terracotta deepening and warming as brightness dims. A warm white dimmable G9 LED is recommended to bring out the full warmth of this finish.
Where It Works Best
The Terracotta and White Nakaii is a natural above a dining table or kitchen island in a room with a warm, Mediterranean influenced or naturally layered aesthetic. It works well in rooms with limewash plaster walls, natural rattan, warm timber and woven textiles, and pairs particularly well with antique brass or warm metal hardware. Group two or three above a longer surface for a scheme that feels genuinely handmade and full of character.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. The ceramics collection draws its colour palette from the Irish landscape and the historic buildings surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

What bulb does the Nakaii Pendant take?
It takes a G9 bulb, maximum 6.5W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED G9 suits the terracotta and white finish well.
Will my pendant look exactly like the photo?
The terracotta and white finish is hand applied, so the exact distribution and blending of the two tones varies naturally between pieces. The overall character will be consistent but your piece will have its own particular warmth and surface quality.
Can the cable length be adjusted?
The pendant is supplied with 1m of cable. Your electrician can adjust this during installation if a different hanging height is needed.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
