Blue Earth: Ceramic and Leather on Your Wall
The Nagi Wall Light in Blue Earth is one of the more distinctive pieces in the Mullan ceramic range. The combination of the hand painted blue earth ceramic shade, the brass fitting and the leather strap detail gives it a character that sits comfortably in artisan, workshop-inspired and contemporary natural interiors alike. At 26cm tall with a 19cm projection it has a confident, upright presence on a wall. The blue earth tones are applied by hand at Mullan Village before firing, building up differently across every individual piece. In natural daylight the finish reads as cool and aquatic. With the warm E27 bulb in the evening the deeper blues and greens within the glaze come forward.
How It Works
The open ceramic shade faces outward and slightly downward, directing the E27 bulb's warm light across the wall and into the room. The leather strap detail visible on the fitting adds a tactile, artisan quality that distinguishes the Nagi from purely ceramic or purely metal wall lights. A warm white dimmable E27 LED is recommended to bring out the richer tones within the blue earth glaze in the evening.
Where It Works Best
The Blue Earth Nagi is well suited to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and dining rooms where a wall light with material layering and natural colour is wanted. The combination of blue earth ceramic and leather strap detail makes it particularly at home in interiors with natural timber, woven textiles, rattan and warm neutral tones. It also works well in a more contemporary setting where the leather detail adds an unexpected material contrast.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the blue earth finish as a translation of the blues and greens of the Irish landscape into a hand painted ceramic glaze. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass. The studio distributes to more than 55 countries.

FAQs
What is the leather strap on the Nagi?
The leather strap is a decorative detail on the wall bracket that adds a tactile, artisan quality to the fitting. It is part of the standard design and included as supplied.
What bulb does the Nagi Wall Light take?
It takes a standard E27 screw fit bulb, maximum 40W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED E27 suits the blue earth finish well.
Will the colour look exactly like the photos?
The blue earth finish is hand applied in layers, so the exact depth and distribution of colour varies naturally between pieces. The photos give a reliable guide to the overall tone but your piece will have its own particular quality of colour.
Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Nagi Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated fitting and we will advise.
Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
