Mullan Manila Rattan Small Pendant with Finish Options

The Manila Small Pendant Is a Compact Rattan Classic

Measuring just 16cm high with a 20cm wide shade, the Manila Small Pendant is one of the most petite fittings in Mullan's rattan collection. A natural rattan weave is set into a brass frame, giving the shade an open, basket like structure that reads as relaxed and handcrafted rather than heavily finished. Supplied with 1m of cable, it is easy to hang at exactly the drop you need.

How It Works

A single E27 bulb sits within the woven rattan, and the open weave lets pinpoints of light escape between the strands, creating a soft, dappled effect on ceilings and walls close by. The bulb is not included, so you can match it to your preferred colour temperature, and the fitting is dimmable with a dimmable bulb for evenings when you want less light.

Where It Works Best

Its small scale makes the Manila ideal for spots where a larger pendant would overwhelm the room, above a bedside table, in a compact kitchen, or hung in a row of three or more along a run of worktop or a breakfast bar. It also reads well as a pair either side of a bed.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by the architect Mike Treanor, who took on a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan, and rebuilt it into a working studio. That studio has since grown to employ more than 100 craftspeople and now exports its lighting to over 55 countries. Pieces like the Manila Small Pendant reflect the studio's continuing interest in natural, sustainable and biodegradable materials, worked here in a fine rattan weave.
